The older photographs on the site were taken with a Minolta Vectis APS camera, but the quality was poor and the camera seemed to chew up the film, making it difficult to scan the negatives later.

Late in 2000, I went for a digital camera, the Canon Digital IXUS. This is a pretty good model, a great compact size, but it's still a bit limited in terms of its zoom range (the newer models now have 3x or more, but still no wide angle option) and its performance in low lighting conditions is not too good. The flash unit seems to be a big drain on the battery - the Li-Ion battery doesn't seem suitable to the high discharge requirements of the flash, and a freshly charged battery will only give you around 10 flash pictures.
